Updates
1) I'm giving a lecture in Seattle, for what will hopefully turn into an academic job offer. I'm not anxious to leave SF, but an offer might help me convince UCSF to advance me.
2) I will in fact be going to Gambia on around Nov 1st for three months. Woo hoo!
3) Some follow-up from the surgery: they had told me my particular tumor was very rare, but I didn't realize how rare. Through 1995, only 300 cases had ever been reported! That made me feel very lucky.
Maybe my next post will be from Africa!
